Minister

Rev Dr Daniel Spencer

I have been the minister at Kingshill since June 2025. Before moving up to Aberdeenshire, we lived in and around Dundee for the better part of a decade, where I trained and worked with various local churches.

I come originally from Denver, Colorado, where I grew up until I went off to Pepperdine University in southern California for my undergraduate studies in philosophy and theology. Following this, my wife and I moved across the pond for me to pursue postgraduate theological studies at the University of St Andrews, where I completed both an MLitt and PhD.

As I was completing my doctoral thesis, I was accepted to begin training for ministry with the Church of Scotland. I was officially ordained in 2023 in the Presbytery of Perth, working as an assistant minister in the northeast of Dundee before taking up the charge at Kingshill.
My wife, Sara, and I have four children together, all far more British than we ourselves are (even their accents give them away): Perpetua, Valentine, Sofia, and Beatrice. 'Free time' is not a concept I am currently familiar with, but in those rare instances I manage to step away from ecclesial or domestic duties, you may find me reading, writing, learning a language, or grieving internally whilst checking to see where QPR currently are in the table (don't ask).
