Asylum Seekers

Our church is closely involved with the charity workers and Aberdeenshire Council  employees tasked with overseeing our local asylum hotel and assisting the asylum seekers in various ways. We can always use more volunteers who are keen to welcome, befriend, and support the asylum seekers in our community.

See below to read about some of the work we do presently.

What can I do to help?

As part of our community initiative to welcome and support asylum seekers based in Westhill, we hold a weekly “Conversation Hub” on Wednesdays from 2 – 3.30pm in the back hall at Trinity Church on Westhill Drive. This is in a ‘café style’ setting doing jigsaws, playing games, and having conversations to encourage confidence in speaking English. Refreshments are provided.
Please contact our deacon,  Fiona Blair (
fblair@churchofscotland.org.uk), if you are interested in supporting this initiative and to be included in future communications regarding the Conversation Hub.

If you would like to make a financial donation toward our work with the asylum seekers in Westhill, we have a dedicated bank account set up for this purpose, called the Valentine Fund. The bank account details are as follows:

Royal Bank of Scotland
Account Holder: Kingshill Parish Church - Valentine Fund
Sort code: 83-28-40
